As part of Bolton, we acknowledge the urgency to contribute to tackling global warming. That’s why we are committed to reduce our CO2 emissions to the atmosphere, both in our own sites and along the supply chain.
As of 2024 we have started with a complete masterplan for our production site in Goes, Netherlands, where we aim to modernize all buildings. As a first step, during 2024, we have insulated the roof, renewed boilers and installed a heat pump with heat recovery as well as the first solar panels on our office building. This led to a -65% reduction in electric energy and gas consumption per year as well as -65% reduction in the CO2 emissions associated with the office building.
A Dutch law requires companies to achieve a minimum of C in the energy label for office buildings. However, we took this challenge as an opportunity to really make an impact in terms of energy efficiency and reduction of energy consumption, going straight for an A+! This saves costs in the long-term but of course also contributes to the decarbonization agenda of Bolton.
The concrete next steps for 2025 will be focusing on one of our filling departments. Here we plan to build a new roof top including additional insulation, install a new ventilation and heat recovery system and start additional construction work to enhance the overall building insulation. The installation of additional solar panels for our own energy production is also on our agenda.
Recently Bolton committed to set near-term company-wide emission reduction targets in line with the SBTi (Science Based Target initiative) within the next 24 months. All these activities are contributing valuable reductions in Bolton Adhesives Scope 1 and 2 emissions and are an essential part of our decarbonization strategy.
